Sustainable use and management of biomass is an essential component of the rural developmental activity. This paper essentially deals with the conceptual of the semantics of sustainability-objectives/principles, criteria/indicators, and recipes/thumb-rules. The main reason for discussing criteria and indicators is to use them to help individuals and communities monitor their own progress towards sustainability.
