Abstract
Development research has undergone significant changes over the last decade. On the one hand, the period witnessed the conceptual shift to a more multidimensional approach to poverty, and on the other, the call for methodological integration resulted in innovations as seen in ‘qual-quant’ (Kanbur, 2003) or ‘participatory numbers’ (Chambers, 2008). While it is true that interdisciplinary treatment of development issues is not anything new, a remarkable outcome of these changes has been the emergence of development studies as a ‘cross-discipline’. International Development Studies is an attempt to define the contours of this ‘new’ discipline.
