Abstract
Biligiri Rangaswamy Temple Wildlife Sanctuary has high bird diversity compared to other protected areas of Karnataka. Western Ghats harbor 16 endemic species of which seven occur in BRT wildlife sanctuary. They are Niligiri Wood Pigeon, Small Green Barbet, Loten's Sunbird, Black and Orange Flycatcher, Nilgiri Verditer Flycatcher and Rufous Babbler were also recorded from the sanctuary. the endemic species account for 3.2 percent of the total bird diversity of Biligiri Rangaswamy Temple Wildlife Sanctuary. Only a few times, Niligiri Wood Pigeon and Black and Orange Flycatcher were recorded.
