Abstract
Dysoxylum malabaricum, a member of the Meliaceae family, is native to the Western Ghats region in India.1,2 Triterpenoids constitute the predominant category of phytochemicals within this plant genus. Limited research has been conducted on this particular species, leaving significant uncharted territory for further exploration and investigation. The genus yielded a range of bioactive triterpenoids upon isolation.3 Some medicinally essential alkaloids, viz. rohitukine, and camptothecin have been isolated from Dysoxylum binectariferum. The rohitukine inspired the discovery of potent CDK-inhibitor drugs like flavopiridol and rivicicilib.4,5 Moreover, other than alkaloids, different triterpenoids and glycosides were isolated from this genus showing anti-inflammatory, anti-malarial, anti-tumor, cytotoxic, anti-depressant, and antimicrobial action.
